A Day in the Life

Wow. It has been way too long since I posted. But I am back! Can't say I am back and better than ever but I am back! As I write this, I am in a hotel room for work. Every 4-6 weeks I am trying to visit my facility and have some meetings, see some faces. I normally work remote and remote in a closet. A closet? Yes, my desk set up is in the playroom closet. The playroom used to be an office and storage room for us but once I had children, I turned into a fun environment. We have a chalkboard wall, Barbie dreamhouse, kitchen and 1,000 little toys all over.

I figured I would say the day I had earlier this week. It was a little hectic, but we can do hard things, right? Mornings continue to be a little hectic, getting two littles out the door and getting on AM work calls, early cut offs all make for a little crazy. I ran my daughter to preschool, and we forgot her lunch and water, so back home we went for that.

I then had minutes to squeeze in an hour of work before I had to then go drop my older lab, Sadie off to the vet. She has some mouth issues at this point, extra saliva/drool and sometimes bleeding after eating. I also had lab work at 9 AM to do for an upcoming physical. I mean genius to schedule a 9 AM lab appointment for myself in the middle of the crazy mornings in general. Quest is backed up, waiting 20+ minutes at this time.

Simultaneously, I am filling out paperwork for my daughters ENT visit that day, my husband is down the other side of the plaza to take her to the visit. She is in the process of needing tubes, constant ear infections and nasal issues.

Finally make it back home to my closet and continue working. Then I receive a call from the vet, Sadie has a tumor on her tongue, next steps to X-Ray chest to see if cancer is anywhere. Instantly, I'm reminded nothing is permanent. Eventually, I will have to say goodbye to Sadie, but it can't be this soon. Sadie is the sweetest girl. I rescued her right before my first daughter was born so we have had her about 6 years now. She was one of those dogs that was just dumped off and left behind, she was thankfully found by a rescue, and they got her into foster care. She had heartworm when they found her.

Vet calls back- nothing on X-ray so next course of action....put her under later in the week to operate and remove the tumor. Thank goodness for that. But there goes another $1K! Back to reality and the closet, rushing to finish out the day. and I remember, my youngest has swim lesson at 3:45! I then race the clock, which I love racing the clock all day long, but it seems the clock usually wins! We make it to swim, maybe like 1.30 minutes late but we did it.

That is just a glimpse into one of the crazy days and that was just 7-3:45 of my day! A reminder, be kind to yourself. Some days are a whirlwind and I slept extra hard that night!
